Letter to Parents Spring 2019

Posted 18/1/2019

18th January 2019

 Dear Parents/Carers,

A very Happy New Year to you all! We hope you had a lovely Christmas. We have enjoyed listening to all of the stories and tales of the period from the children. Spring term is always an exciting one and an opportunity for the children to rapidly build on the foundations that they learned in the Autumn term.

This half term, we are going to become astronauts and be learning all about Space! The children have shown a real enthusiasm so far and have been busy learning the names of the planets.  If you have any items or books that would support our topic, please feel free to send them – clearly labelled – into school with your child.

In maths, we will be continuing with counting, consolidating counting forwards and backwards to 10 and counting to 20.  We are going to be finding 1 more, 1 less and then adding and taking away as well as learning more about 3D shapes!

Reading books will continue to be shared in school on a Tuesday and Friday and will be sent home on those days. Please ensure reading books are read and returned on Tuesdays and Friday so that your child can get a new reading book.

We will also be sending home ‘Marvellous Maths’ books once a week. These are short challenges to complete with your child that can be extended in many ways and help your child to understand that maths is everywhere! Please feel free to decorate the Marvellous Maths books with your child and engage them in fun maths learning. Books are to be returned every Tuesday so that a new challenge card can be provided.

Please ensure that your child has a pair of wellies in school every day.  PE will continue to be on Thursdays.

Thank you to those of who contributed resources last term. We are still looking for:

  • Stainless steel teapots/jugs/pots
  • Bottle tops (milk/juice & coke bottles)

If you have any outgrown school clothes to donate (particularly trousers, socks, tights), they would be greatly appreciated.

Kind Regards,

Miss Burrell & Mrs Thompson
