Handwriting

We believe beautiful handwriting is very important as it not only enable a child's work to be legible and neat but also due care and attention to presentation demonstrates more widely that a student has applied effort to their work. Effort and resilience are core  skills towards being a successful life long learner, not just the early stages.

In Foundation Stage, the children are taught the cursive letters with all the letters having the same entry point. This is consolidated through Year 1 and then into Year 2, where the children are to write in a continuous cursive style. In other words, joining up their letters in a word. This also can help children to learn 'chunks' of sounds or whole words to spell.
