Our time today at East Barnby amazing! We went beck scrambling and surfing. It was fun but we were frozen. The surfing was interesting because we learnt how to save each other in the North Sea on Whitby harbour. When we went beck scrambling, we got really wet but it was fun at the same time. We went through huge caves and we slid off a really big rock.

My first thought of East Barnby was ‘this is not my place. I have never been anywhere like this before.’ However, when I settled in a bit more, I really enjoyed myself. My first activity was beck scrambling and everyone got very wet! I got a bit homesick and I miss my parents but I am so excited for the rest of the week.

As we stepped off the bus, I was excited and nervous. In Occlusion Dorm there are 2 rooms of 10 people and one with 4. The activities we are doing are orienteering, beck scrambling, canoeing, body boarding, shelter building, rock pooling and lots more. I miss my parents but I look forward to what happens next.

Today we went canoeing. We had a brilliant time!  Ralph was with Ollie and Arthur and I was with Lily and Ellie. First we did some practising up and down a calm, flat river. After that, we had our lunch and sunbathed for a while. Then we set off for Whitby. It was a long and tiring journey, but we got there in the end. Ralph and I are very tired and a bit stiff, but we enjoyed it all the same. We have had a fantastic time at East Barnby so far!:)

On Monday we arrived at sunny (somehow) East Barnby. When we arrived, we ate a lunch of jacket potatoes with cheese, beans and tuna. Next we did den building. We built a luscious, green, fern-covered, tipi-type thingy.
For tea we had spaghetti bolognaise; it was very nice.We went on a long hike, then today we went body boarding and beck scrambling.

In the morning we went surfing but there were no waves so we did lifeguard drills where we rescued each other in the water on surfboards. We also did some relay races in teams, running and swimming. After that we did yoga on surfboards in the water. On the land Zoe (me) could do a headstand very easily but in the water I kept rolling off and getting very wet. In the afternoon we did beck scrambling.  My favourite part was the loony leap where we slid down a rock, which was nearly vertical, very fast into a deep pool. Mr Larder and Mrs Emmerson did it as well.

Today we woke for breakfast which was corn flakes. We were then told our activity: it was canoeing. So we were transported to the River Esk. Then we had a practice by heading up stream where we played games. We then went back to the minibus for lunch. We then started on our journey to Whitby. After ages of paddling we got to the harbour where we headed back to the centre on the minibus.

Today we woke up in our dormitories and went to eat our delicious breakfast that was cornflakes for our starter then we had toast with bacon and beans for mains. Then we got our lunch collected before we went to get into our clothes to do canoeing down the River Esk. After that we got on the minibus that transported us to where we started our journey to Whitby Harbour. Then we got into our canoes to have a practice run in the river before we ventured down the River Esk until we finally reached Whitby Harbour.  We saw a seal poking his head up out of the water and it kept disappearing and coming back. After that we docked our canoes and lifted them onto the mini buses trailer, then we got on the mini bus and went back to East Barnby.  Finally we had tea.

Today we did beck scrambling and everybody had lots of fun. When the water got in your boots, your own body heat warmed the water so we weren’t that cold. My favourite part was loony leap!

The day we arrived at East Barnby, we unpacked in our dorms and went for lunch of jacket potatoes. After that we got ready to go to beck scrambling. We got soaked madly.
