Sports

At Richmond Methodist Primary School we pride ourselves on the variety of sporting opportunities we provide for our children. We deliver a broad and rich physical education curriculum where we encourage the children to challenge themselves and to achieve and raise their own personal targets.

We are delighted to have been the first school in the area to achieve the ‘Gold Standard’ Sainsbury’s Schools Sports Mark award.   This is in recognition of: the number of clubs we provide; the amount of inter-school level 1 and 2 competitions the children attend; pupil-led lunchtime activities and access to professional sports coaches, workshops and the high-quality physical education we have in place.

October 2016 – Cluster Girls Football

A team of eight year 5/6 Methodist girls took part in the above tournament. Led by captain Faith the girls: Holly, Hannah, Maisy, Lily, Evie, Edie and goalkeeper Ava played six matches altogether, scored 18 goals between them and conceded none.

They came first overall followed by Brompton-On-Swale in second place and St. Mary's RC & Bolton-on Swale in joint thhird place.

Coached by Mrs. Welch and Mr.Larder, the girls played extremley well, were well disciplined and we are very proud of them all.

Richmond Methodist/Arkengarthdale  year 3/4 boys reach semi final of Football competition.

The joint team of Methodist and Arkengarthdale boys competed in the football competition on September 30th at Richmond School. They played really well and reached the semi finals where they were beaten by Bolton-On-Swale.

Year 5/6 football Tournament - September 23rd 2016

Our year 5/6 boys attended the Football tournament at Richmond School on 23rd September. We entered two teams, the 'B' team played well, they didn't concede a goal until the last game when unfortunately they lost 4-0.
The A team, also played very well, they had possession of the ball for most of their matches but were unable to score in two of their games.  Against Barton they had 10-15 shots at goal but sadly (for us) the goalkeeper was outstanding.
We do not go forward to the next round.

November 6th 2016

Due to other sports club commitments, Year 5/6 Netball club will now be held on Mondays instead of Tuesdays. Apologies if this is inconvenient for anybody but with running so many clubs I have to fit them round the appropriate venues.

This week sees the introduction of a new club, ‘Box to be Fit’ for year 5/6. There is already a large number of children interested, don’t miss your chance to sign up on the sports board!
