Governor Profiles

Jan LinsleyJan LinsleyJan Linsley

Jan Linsley, joined the Governing Body as a community governor and since 2014 has been a co-opted Governor.  I am currently the Chair of the Governing Body, having been chair of the finance and resources committee in the past.   I have a background in education and have lived and worked in the area since 1996.   I have a keen interest in ensuring all children get the best education they can, and that they enjoy doing so, and believe this will be an asset to the school.

 

Reverend Les Nevin

Les Nevin is a Foundation Governor and joined the governing body in September 2013. Les is the Methodist Minister in Richmond and seven other churches in the Swaledale area. Les worked for a number of years as a lecturer and Head of Department for Vocational programmes in a college of Further and Higher Education and had particular responsibility for developing aspects of the College's curriculm and for the Quality Assurance of learning programmes across the college. Les is particularly committed to ensuring the Christian Ethos of the school is present in every aspect of its work.

 

Nicola ScraftonNicola ScraftonNicola Scrafton

" I am a senior NHS Physiotherapist specialising in rheumatology.  I am a member of a number of rheumatology and health related groups and am active in the design and implementation of numerous multi-disciplinary, management, training and efficiency initiatives. I am an active member of Richmond Methodist Church with particular involvement in its youth work and worship ministry.  My husband, Matthew grew up in Richmond and is a Solicitor in Teesside. My son has recently joined Richmond Methodist School and my daughter will soon follow him. I am excited to be involved with the governors at Richmond Methodist School and look forward to putting my experiences to use."

 

 

 

Peter Cooke

Peter Cooke is a Co-opted Governor who joined the Governing Body in January 2016 and currently sits as a member of the Joint Collaboration Committee.

 As a parent to 4 children, all of whom are either current pupils at Richmond Methodist, attended or will be attending the school he has a vested interest in all pupils flourishing and achieving their very best.

He is a graduate from Northumbria University with a degree in Leadership and Management, a qualified accountant and has worked in the Education sector for the past 5 years, currently working as an Academy Business Manager at a nearby outstanding Primary School.  

As a Co-opted Governor he has a wealth of experience and the necessary abilities to provide good Governance and challenge to the school to reach its full potential.

 

Eithne Longstaff

Eithne Longstaff  joined as a Parent Governor in October 2012, and was re-elected in 2016.   Eithne has two children at the school, Maggie and Peter.  Her eldest son left the school in July 2014.

Eithne is co Vice Chair of the Full Governing Body and is the link governor with specific responsibilities for Pupil Premium and safeguarding.

Eithne has a MEng in Chemical Engineering from Queen’s University Belfast and works as a consultant, providing Health, Safety, Environmental and Sustainability data reporting and analysis support.

 

Marie Mann

Marie Mann is a Parent Governor. She has two children at the school in Year 2 and Reception. As a Primary School Teacher Marie brings her experiences to support the staff and pupils at Richmond Methodist School and is a link governor for SEND.

 

Brian Park

Brian Park, joined the Governing Body as a Foundation Governor in October 2015. He has a background in Finance, has previously been a Primary School Governor in Lancashire and believes both of these will be an asset to the School.

 

 

Rebecca Simpson

Rebecca Simpson joined the Governing Body as a Parent Governor in March 2016. She has a background in marketing and information management and is currently a full time mother.

Rebecca has lived in Richmond for 7 years and has three young children, one in year 1 and one whom will start in foundation stage this September.

Rebecca has a sound knowledge of ICT and believes this will be an asset to the school. She has a keen interest in the wellbeing of the school and its pupils, and is passionate that all children should receive the very best education available to them. 

 

 

 

Julie Swinbank

Julie Swinbank is the Staff Governor. Her current roles within school are: Assistant Head, Foundation Stage and KS1 Head of Department, PSHCE, R.E and Computing Coordinator, CPD and Website Manager. She is currently teaching a Year 1 and 2 class but has worked throughout school during her time at Richmond Methodist Primary School. Throughout, Julie has attended Governors Meetings as both guest and Staff Governor, continuing to support the school's strategic improvement.
