Pupil Premium Archive

Pupil Premium is additional funding given to schools to raise the attainment of disadvantaged pupils. Pupil Premium applies to children with a history of eligibility for Free School Meals, children of service families, looked after children and – now -  children adopted from care.

 

Funding for 2014 to 2015

Richmond Methodist School was allocated £37882 (Sept14-Mar15) and £23427(April 15 to Aug15).

 

This funding was used to support children by:

  • Continuing to employ two HLTA’s to work with children in KS1 and KS2.
  • To employee an additional teacher part time for four days a week.
  • Two support teachers are employed to teach maths and English to vulnerable pupils from Y3-6. Their work includes those on Pupil Premium.
  • Training all qualified HLTA’s in teaching all outstanding lessons
  • Assisted funding for pupil to attend residential visits.
  • Providing milk at morning break time.
  • Continue to provide a nurture group on a regular basis which provides a light breakfast before working on the curriculum.

 

Pupil premium has made a difference by:

  • Addressing specific needs and accelerating pupil progress.
  • Improving academic achievement.
  • Developing staff capacity and ability to work with children who have varying needs
  • Giving children increased opportunities to access outdoor residential educational environments to enhance social skills and independence.
  • Giving pupils a nutritional boost helping them to concentrate and learn.

 

Funding for 2013 to 2014

Richmond Methodist School was allocated £53033 pupil premium for the academic year 2013/2014.

 

The funding was used to support children by:

  • Employing Teaching Assistants working in KS1 and KS2.
  • Continuing to employ specialist teachers in maths and English to provide one to one support.
  • Continue to employ two HLTAs support staff in KS1 and KS2.  
  • Purchasing extra resources for interventions.
  • Continue to provide a nurture group on a regular basis which provides a light breakfast before working on the curriculum.
  • Training staff in bereavement, drawing and talking and counselling.

 

Pupil premium has made a difference by:

  • Addressing specific needs and accelerating pupil progress.
  • Achieving better than average progress in SATS results at the end of KS2.
  • Increased progress at KS1
  • Ensuring children’s behaviour and achievement is very good.
  • Improving academic achievement
  • Improving personal development including independence
  • Improving confidence, positive attitudes and developing relationships
  • Developing staff capacity and ability to work with children who have communication /counselling needs.
