If you would like to enquire about a place in our Richmond Methodist School Nursery you can complete a Nursery Parental Agreement Form, this is available via our useful documents tab. Once you have completed the form you can return it to the school office by contacting us or a paper copy to the office. We will then be in touch to confirm your child has a place. Children can start from their 3rd birthday. Half a term before your child will start Mrs Swinbank will be in touch to drop off an admission and welcome pack and a few weeks before they start we will arrange some settling in sessions.
Admission to Richmond Methodist School is open to all children from 4-11 years old, regardless of ability, faith, race or gender.
Children can attend our Nursery from their 3rd birthday
The usual catchment area for the school includes Richmond, Skeeby, Gilling West, Marske, Downholme, Hudswell, Brokes and Easby. Applications are also welcome from outside this area, and may be agreed, dependent upon places being available. Parents and children are welcome to visit the school prior to application.
School places are allocated by the Local Education Authority. For more information about how to apply for a place please visit www.northyorks.gov.uk/school-admissions. The site contains guidance about the procedure to follow and the timetable.
First Admission to School
Children are admitted to Richmond Methodist Primary School in the September before their 5th birthday. They can attend part-time initially but must be in full time education once they reach compulsory school age. This is on 31 December, 31 March or 31 August following their fifth birthday- whichever comes first. The deadline for the receipt of applications to the Local Authority for the following school year is normally mid -January. The Local Authority will write to parents / carers giving confirmation of the school place allocated in mid- April. Our school will receive a list of our new entrants at the same time and we will subsequently contact parents to coordinate transition arrangements for getting ready to start school.
Starting School Transition
Our Early Years Foundation Stage Team have a programme in place to help prepare the children for starting school. This usually begins after Easter and includes a welcome meeting for parents / carers and contact with staff on several occasions prior to starting.
Admission of Children Later In School Because Of Transfer From Other Areas
Parents should apply online at https://www.northyorks.gov.uk/school-admissions and the decision on school allocation will be made by the Local Education Authority. Please feel welcome to contact us direct for more specific information and to request a tour of our school.
